In the brand new year, mixing materials--the last of our latest landscape design trends--is apt to achieve new heights. Not only will hardscape patterns become more complicated, but attracting the attention of guests and possible buyers alike, by contrasting substances will be utilized within the space to add more visual appeal. This could come in the form of a marble fire pit which sits atop a textured stone sidewalk, among many other examples. Uniformity and symmetry were once in the heart of paver and rock hardscapes. The focus is now on creating more lively patterns to create visual attention and effectively tie together the inside of a house with its exterior.
